Taking Things for Granted

Hello! SilverDawn here with another post on Gratitude!

In the Western world, we tend to take things for granted - things such as that we have a roof over our heads, a warm bed, food and water, a loving family, and friends.

If all these things were taken away from you, how would you feel? Sad, scared, depressed, and maybe angry, I imagine. But you don't think about that when you have them, do you? Well, count your blessings and you'll be happy. Here are some of mine:

  • Loving, kind, sensible parents
  • A wonderful sister
  • Lots of friends
  • A lovely home
  • Five adorable cats
  • Food and drink
  • Clothes
  • Education
  • Books
  • Toys
  • The ability to make a blog
  • Authorship on this blog
  • A friendship with wonderful people like FrostWolf
  • An ability to things which make me happy, like drawing and riding
  • Special experiences such as the times when we visited Africa
And thousands of other things! Thousands of them!

Lots of people keep wanting more, and more, and more - but they don't realise that they already have everything they need to make them happy.

I hope I or somebody else hasn't posted this before!

No Autumn Leaf is The Same

Hello! This is SilverDawn.

I apologise wholeheartedly for my lack of posts! I was struggling for ideas, but now I'm going to be posting some more. :)

Anyway, this post is about what I was doing yesterday: pressing autumn leaves. It occurred to me to do so when I was walking under a tree which was losing its leaves, and I looked down at the leaves on the ground, and found that no autumn leaf is the same

Of course, I knew it already; but this really made me think about it. Some of the leaves were brown with yellow speckles, some where green speckled with brown or yellow, some where yellow speckled with green, and some where yellow speckled with brown - but there were thousands of other combinations of colours. And a lot of the leaves had imperfections, little tares in the leaf from how they'd fallen or where a caterpillar had eaten or something.

It also made me realise something more that I already knew but didn't think about: that every leaf has a story. First there was a seed. Then this seed sprouts up, and up, and up, into a tree. It grows little leaves. The leaves are green and fresh, they pass through the damp spring to the dry summer, and then, when autumn comes, they turn brightly-coloured and fall. But the story doesn't stop there; some fell on rocks, some fell on grass, some fell on gravel. Sometimes a gust of wind would blow the leaf away.

So, basically, what I'm driving at, is...

Don't ignore the little things of nature, for each of them will tell you a story if you listen.
and
Just like autumn leaves, you are unique...stay that way.

When you actually truly realise those things above, you will feel a warm glow of happiness.

I hope this was an OK post! :) More posts to come!

Gratitude

Hello! :D

I'm not sure if someone has already posted on gratitude, but I thought it would be OK for me to do so. :3

Anyway, people nowadays in the Western world (Europe, America, and Australia) aren't as grateful as they used to be, in general. Of course there are exceptions, as there are with everything.

People take things for granted - like the roof over their head, their access to food and water when they need it, the fact that they have legs and arms which work unlike some peoples', and all that sort of thing.

In general, it is the people who have less who are more grateful. In one way, this is logical - but in the other way, it doesn't make any sense at all. Poorer people have less, so they have less to be grateful for - but yet  they are more grateful for what they do have.

Be grateful and thankful for what you've got. You'll feel much happier. :)

Making Friends

Hello! :3 This is SilverDawn, and I thought we might post, as well as lessons, advice on stuff like making friends. :)

Who to make friends with...

Things you want to see in a friend are friendliness, loyalty, and share of your interests. For instance, if there was somebody who was very nice but into completely different stuff to me, then they would not be the best person for me to make friends with.
Now, there's something I need to get straight. You can be friendly with people who do not share your interests, but you cannot be firm friends with them.
Things you don't want to see in a friend are; disloyalty and thinking they are better than you in general.

What a good friend is...

A good friend will always stick by your side, remember you and keep being friends with you if you move away, stick up for you when others are mean to you, and have the ability to have fun and laugh with you. And you must do these things and be these things to your friends, too.

How to start at being friends with someone...

Imagining you are staying in the same place as someone who you notice qualifies Who to make friends with. How do you start at being friends with them?
It can all start by you saying hello (imagining they haven't). You mustn't let the fact that they haven't spoken stop you from speaking to them. You can start a lifelong friendship by simply saying "Hello. Do you want  to play with me?". They're most likely going to say yes, but if they say they are busy right then you can try again later. And if they say no because they simply don't want to, then they wouldn't make the best friend anyway. Once you've started doing things together, you should exchange email addresses (if you're only on holiday in the same place). That way, you can keep in touch!

I hope this was an OK post! :3

Joy

Hello! :3 This is SilverDawn... Can you guess what I'm doing? I'm posting of course! XD

Well, I'm posting on joy. It doesn't take much to be joyful, but nevertheless few people are joyful. You don't need much to be joyful at all. Here are a few things which make me want to run around full of joy:

1. A cuddly pet.
2. A very good book.
3. Some other happy people who I'm doing happy things with.
4. The breeze in my hair as I run down the slope in my garden.

There are more of course, but they're some of them ^.^ Some people are so caught up in their unhappy thoughts that they don't notice the good of those things.

So be aware! :3 You will be very happy.

Sorry if this post is odd.

Respect for Nature! :>

Hello, all! This is Frosty! I am going to be posting on. . .
Respecting Nature

God made every living thing on this earth, so how could we even think about hurting or disrespecting it? When people just kick around animals, and cut down trees for NO reason at ALL, it’s kinda’ like disrespecting God. See, if you like –I don’t know- drew all over a statue that someone made, it would be like doing it to the artist, and the artist that made all of us, and everything around us, is God.
I am SURE this is how the wildlife feels! My favorite is the one the squirrel is holding up! Lol! "I'm bitter about Litter" >:D And I AM TO!!

Have a great day!

Kindness and Charity

Hi!  This is Leafa, posting on Kindness.  No offense, but I'm slightly amazed that no one thought about this before, lol xD Just joking!

Kindness.  'Doing a kindness' means when you do something for another person, not because of a mutual need or an agreement where if you lose a game you need to do this for so-and-so.  You do it just out of the goodness of your heart.  Kindness can win others as friends, supporters, and if not those, people who respect you.  Three quotes are below that have to do with kindness--

"If you can't be pleasant, be as pleasant as you can."

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
― Mother Teresa

“For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”
― Sam Levenson

Kindness will brighten another's day, making them happy and cheerful and amiable.  That is how you gain friends from kindness.  And when you're unhappy, those friends will be there for you, loyal to you because of the kindness you showed them, and will give you kindness.  What comes from kindness is happiness.

And now for the charity part of my post.

Charity means giving as much as you can without making yourself too poor to buy what you need.  If a poor person that had only $30 gave $25 to a good, well-meaning charity, they give more in spirit than rich people who give thousands of dollars away to the same charity.  A multi-trillionaire can give away two billion dollars, and that will make a huge difference in the charity.  But that trillionaire can give away a trillion dollars without effecting their living style; it's like they gave $25 as much as it effects the trillionaire.  Sorry, that's veering off the subject a bit *looks away guiltily* Sorry about that.  But in my religion, we always give away 10% of our income to tithing, which is what we call charity.

Charity is very good.  It aids others, and it is a large aspect of kindness.

Thanks for reading, and have a nice day!:)

Pray

Hello! SilverDawn here to post on praying. :)

When you or someone you know is having a difficult time in life, then you can pray to God for help. It makes all the difference. God always listens and never forgets your prayers.

It doesn't matter if you don't have a habit of praying in your family. God loves everyone the same, and He will listen to everyone.

He may not answer your prayers immediately, but He will definitely answer them when the time is right.

Praying with faith makes all the difference.

Thank you for reading! :)

Smile

Hello! SilverDawn here!

I know several other people have posted on smiling, but I'm not saying exactly the same thing. :)

If you live in a town, you can just walk down the road to see a lot of people. But look at them closely. How many of them are smiling?

Not many, I'll guess. So smile at them yourself! :) Just as the quote above says, nobody needs a smile so much as those who have none to give.

I am going to try to make you ALL smile today! LoL!
So. . . Have you smiled today? Well if you haven't, I don't see how any one could look at the picture below, and not smile!
Look at that baby elephant's smile! It looks like this is the best thing that has ever happened to him! Now that is the smile I want to pop on all of your faces!! >:D

Be A Sunbeam

Hello! This is SilverDawn, FINALLY posting ;) One of my favourite songs is I'll Be A Sunbeam. Here are the lyrics :)

Jesus wants me for a sunbeam,
To shine for Him each day;
In every way try to please Him,
At home, at school, at play.

Refrain

A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
Jesus wants me for a sunbeam;
A sunbeam, a sunbeam,
I’ll be a sunbeam for Him.

Jesus wants me to be loving,
And kind to all I see;
Showing how pleasant and happy
His little one can be.

Refrain

I will ask Jesus to help me
To keep my heart from sin,
Ever reflecting His goodness,
And always shine for Him.

Refrain

I’ll be a sunbeam for Jesus;
I can if I but try;
Serving Him moment by moment,
Then live with Him on high.

Refrain

Nice, isn't it? Whether you believe in Jesus like I do or not, you can still try to be a sunbeam. Be happy and joyful - and loving and kind. Be helpful! :)

I hope you found some inspiration in this! :D

MY FIRST POST!

I'm soooo sorry, Sasha, Erm I mean FROSTWOLF, that I haven't posted before now.. I keep on forgetting DX
But anywho, here goes my post! :D

"Life by the yard is hard; by the inch it's a cinch. Each of us can be true for just one day--and then one more and then one more after that--until we've lived a lifetime guided by the Spirit, a lifetime close to the Lord, a lifetime of good deeds and righteousness."
~Thomas S. Monson

I came across this quote on my church's website, and I thought I'd share it with you guys!
I really like it because it points out that it's not about the big things that we do - it's about simply being the best YOU you can be each and every day. If it seems hard to be nice to people for a whole week, or to do good at your school, just take it a day at a time. Just think to yourself, "Okay, today I'll try and be a little better, and maybe I'll even do something extra, like smile at that girl over there. She doesn't have many friends."
How simple is it to just SMILE at someone?!! :D It can really make someone's day. And it's SO easy! :D
anywho, that was kind of off topic, and I'm not sure where I'm really going with this post anymore... but I hope you all maybe learned something from the quote, and remember to....

SMILE TODAY!

Thanks for reading! :D

Smile :)

Did you know that it (apparently) takes 43 muscles to frown, and 17 to smile?
So why frown when you can smile, and waist less energy? XD
Life is beautiful - smile! :)

A person without a smile is like a tree without wood! :)

These should make you smile, or even laugh! :D

So smile and light up someone else's day as well as your own! :)

~Kiny
P.S That kinda went a bit...off?
